These machines find widespread application, particularly during extensive descaling projects, and are frequently employed for clearing blockages.
What is electromechanical cleaning?
Electromechanical cleaning involves employing a motorized tool to rotate a cable or spring stored on a drum within the tool. The operator introduces the cable into the blocked pipe and utilizes the tool to rotate the cable within the pipe. This action effectively breaks up accumulated materials in the pipe, with most of it removed on the cable, and the rest safely flushed away into the drainage system. The flexible cables can navigate bends easily, and larger machines equipped with larger cables cater to various pipe sizes, from plastic kitchen pipes to underground drains.
When to use electromechanical cleaning
Utilising Electro-Mechanical Drain Cleaning is recommended for tackling the removal of tough substances such as uric scale, lime scale, and concrete residue. We use this method indoors, within soil and vent pipes, and for primary pipework servicing sinks and urinals.
This cleaning approach is particularly suitable for grease cutting and is most effective when carried out while running hot water through the pipe. If possible, high-pressure water jetting would be recommended to fully clean the pipe after grease cutting.
Electromechanical machining is also used for the removal of capillary tree roots that have grown into drains and are causing blockages. Specialist root cutting blades are used for this type of work.
